Out of Zone Enrolment Information

Westlake Boys High School accepts applications from students residing outside the school’s designated zone. Each year, after all in-zone applications have been processed, the Board of Trustees determines the number of available out-of-zone places through a ballot system.

Placement offers are made based on each applicant’s priority category and their position on the ballot-generated enrolment list. Applicants who are not initially offered a place will automatically be placed on a waitlist in ballot order.

2027 Out-of-Zone Applications

Applications for out-of-zone placements in 2027 will be accepted from Tuesday 2nd June 9.00am until Friday 7th August 5pm. During this period, applicants must complete the online application form and upload all required supporting documents.

Year 9 Enrolment Interview

For 2027 intake, we will be conducting interviews for all in-zone applicants as well as priority out-of-zone applicants. Standard out-of-zone applicants will be invited to attend an interview only if their application is successful in the ballot.

It is compulsory to attend the 15-minute enrolment interview, accompanied by a parent or caregiver, for the application to be considered complete. This meeting provides an opportunity to learn more about the school, ask questions, and explore what Westlake Boys High School offers.

Years 10–13 Out-of-Zone Enrolments

Out-of-zone applications for Years 10–13 are invited. Applications will be reviewed, and families will be advised of the outcome by the end of September. The school will assess its capacity to accept additional students in these year levels based on projected year-group numbers, the overall school roll, and available spaces within subject courses.

Priorities for selecting out of zone students

These priorities and their order are set out in the Education and Training Act 2020. Boards can’t set their own priorities.

Step 2: Submit Your Application

Once you have prepared all of the required documentation, complete the online enrolment form and upload all the documents. Mobile phone photos can often be too large to upload, so you may need to reduce the file size using an online compression tool before attaching them. Uploading documents as PDFs is usually the most effective option. Please name the PDF file to indicate the content.

Step 3: Application Review
The school may request further documentation where necessary. The Enrolment Office will contact you if required.

Step 4: Confirmation
Enrolment is confirmed once:

  • All documentation is accepted

  • Letter of Offer (this letter will be sent after the ballot); and Stage 2 enrolment have been completed

  • The student starts school and is marked present on the roll
