Students at Westlake Boys High School are in mentoring groups known as Virtute, Te Kauri, Pasifika or International groups (VTPI), instead of Form classes. The mentor groups meet for an admin period Monday to Thursday mornings to hand out important information, notices and make plans for the week, and on a Friday for mentoring.

School starts at 8:45 am every day. School finishes at 3:10 pm every day. On Fridays Period 1 is replaced with Mentoring.

The timetable runs on a 6-day cycle that rotates through the days of the week.
