In zone applications for the 2025 academic year are currently being accepted.
For 2026 enrolments, applications will be accepted between Tuesday, 3 June – Friday, 15 August.
Students entering Year 9 can apply for a place in the Te Whānau Rūmaki o Te Puna Māori Immersion Class. Whanau with a strong passion for te Reo me ngā tikanga are encouraged to apply.
Important Zone Information
Westlake Boys High School follows the Ministry of Education guidelines regarding enrolment into our school. If a student of high school age lives in our zone, he is entitled to attend our school in accordance with our Enrolment Scheme.
Please refer to our zone map for details of our zone. Residential addresses can also be checked online.
Applications for In Zone places can only be accepted once the student is living in the school zone with his parent(s) or legal guardian.
Please note that:
- ‘living in the school zone’ means that a student has his main residence in the school zone.
- Tenancies must be in the name of the parent(s) or legal guardians with the Property Agent/Property Owner (flat share/boarding house and sub-letting do not meet this criteria).
- the school will not accept the temporary transfer of guardianship to someone living in zone as evidence that a student is living in zone with his parent(s) or legal guardian.
- submitting an enrolment application does not confirm an enrolment at Westlake Boys High School. ‘Enrolment’ occurs when attendance at the School commences and the student is first marked present on the school roll.
The School may actively collect information and make all enquiries necessary in its opinion to ensure that enrolment details contained in the enrolment application are accurate.
Year 9
All students applying for an In-Zone place are required to attend an interview for their application to be considered complete. Interviews will be held on 5 August, and a booking link will be sent to you in July.
Each interview will be approximately 15 minutes long and will involve the student and their parent or caregiver meeting with a staff member. This is a valuable opportunity to learn more about our school, explore language, music, and sports options for the year ahead, and ask any questions you may have, in a one-on-one setting.
School Donation
The 2025 school donation is $675 for one boy and $900 for two or more boys. The 2026 donation is to be advised.
Supporting Documentation
Before submitting your online application, please ensure that all required supporting documents are available. Applications will only be processed once they are complete. This means all sections of the form must be fully answered, and all supporting documents — including the Statutory Declaration — must be provided.
Mobile phone photos are generally too large to upload. If needed, please use an online file compression tool to resize your attachments
If the evidence provided does not clearly confirm that you are living in zone, additional documentation may be requested. This must be submitted before the application can proceed.
A full list of supporting documents can be found here.
Have you moved In Zone in the past 12 months?
If you have moved from an out of zone property to the enrolment address in the past 12 months, you will need to provide written proof of what has happened to your previous address i.e. sold or rented, and supply a copy of the final electricity account, and bond refund letter/email from Tenancy Services (if applicable).
Moving out of the School Zone after enrolling at Westlake Boys High School
Because only students living in zone are entitled to enrol at Westlake Boys High School, and the Board of Trustees has the legal authority to annul enrolments in certain cases, any change to a student’s usual place of residence while the School is open for instruction must be notified in writing immediately. If a student wishes to remain enrolled following a move outside the zone, a written application for permission must be submitted before the move occurs.
