Westlake Boys High School has a reputation of high academic performance. This is within the national qualification (NCEA), University Entrance (UE), and most notably in New Zealand Scholarship examinations.​

We are very proud of our students’ achievements, which are celebrated in our school prizegiving ceremonies. We hold a special Scholars Assembly in Term 1 each year to celebrate the most exceptional results from the external exams. This assembly has a particular focus on Excellence Endorsement and the significant success many of our students achieve in the highly competitive New Zealand Scholarship exams.
